Message Question for you. When you are checking the timing you are connecting the timing light pickup straight to the wires going to the coil pack connector correct? I thought it could not be checked this way. I just recently started working on my Z and thought that all the info I have seen says that you cannot do that. Not arguing, just want to know.

I tested my timing with a basic timing light using a plug wire connected from the coil pack to the sparkplug, it seemed to be jumping all over the place. First it was ~20BTDC then I adjusted the CAS and saw 10BTDC, readjusted and saw 15BTDC and the CAS was basically back where it started. Did this quite a few times to make sure and it never really was the same every time I tested it..
